NEW ROADS - The star witness in a drunk driving case in Pointe Coupee Parish will likely testify at the trial. News 2 has learned New Roads Police Officer Brandon Spillman is back from military duty in Iraq.
Last year, Spillman taped testimony before he headed overseas. In that taped testimony, he said Victoria Gosserand became combative and threw a profanity laced tirade after the crash.
Investigators say Gosserand was nearly four times over the legal limit when she smashed into a car in December of 2009. The crash killed 23-year old Terri Parker and badly injured Kyle Rivere.
Today a motions hearing was set for the case. However, after waiting for nearly two hours, family members of Terri Parker found out that hearing had been cancelled.
"It's really inconsiderate when you know we didn't have court and you didnt' bother to tell us or say anything," Terri Parker's mother, Debra Cushionberry said.
According to the Clerk of Court, attorneys for both sides worked out an agreement last week, so there was no need for a hearing today.
Gosserand's trial is set for July 11, 2011.
