Stalled vehicles stall traffic throughout Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE - Two vehicles which stalled an hour apart from each other on the Mississippi River Bridge left drivers stuck and steaming during near-100 degree heat Thursday.
Around 4 p.m. the Department of Transportation and Development said a nine-mile traffic jam on I-10 West stretched from the bridge back through Baton Rouge. Police had just cleared one vehicle which had been stalled on the bridge for an hour and a half.
DOTD earlier reported an 18-wheeler stalled on the eastbound side of the bridge just before 1 p.m. It was cleared by 1:40 p.m., and I-10 East traffic at that point was backed up past LA-415.
Westbound traffic remained jammed up across East Baton Rouge Parish just before 5 p.m.
