St. Tammany school employees to get extra check
COVINGTON - Employees of the St. Tammany Parish school system will receive an extra paycheck this month following a decision by the school board to give every employee a share of $4.9 million it received from the state.
The board unanimously approved a one-time payment of $774 for more than 3,000 classroom teachers and others who hold teaching certificates but are not in the classroom, including principals and assistant principals.
More than 2,000 personnel who do not have teaching certificates, such as janitors, bus drivers, aides and other staff, will receive $662 each.
Employees will receive their checks Friday.
