St. Tammany man arrested for rape of 13-year-old girl
SLIDELL - A Slidell area man was arrested for rape this morning by the U.S. Marshals service in Jackson, Mississippi, following a report of a 13 year old girl in St. Tammany Parish.
Deputies with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's office received a call Monday morning from a woman who reported that she found her husband in her daughter's bedroom masturbating over the girl. The man was the girl's step-father.
The man fled the residence prior to deputies' arrival. Sheriff's detectives began searching for the man and determined that he had relocated to his brother's house in Jackson.
Sheriff's deputies contacted agents with the U.S. Marshals service in Mississippi to have them arrest the man early this morning at the Jackson residence. He is currently being held by Jackson police, awaiting extradition to St. Tammany Parish.
During interviews with the mother and her daughter, investigators determined that the girl had suffered multiple instances of sexual abuse by the man.
Upon his return to St. Tammany, the man will be booked initially with one count of forcible rape. Other charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
