BATON ROUGE - St. Michael and Catholic High are headed to the Class 4A and 5A state baseball semifinals, respectively, although they took very different paths to get to Sulphur.

The Warriors trailed Franklinton 1-0 in their best-of-three series before taking consecutive wins on Saturday, beating the Deamons 4-2 and 2-1 to earn a trip to Sulphur.

Meanwhile it was a much more direct path for the Bears, who followed up Friday's win with a 6-1 victory over the Yellow Jackets on Saturday.

Catholic pitcher Brian Fairbanks pitched a no-hitter through 5 innings on the way to the Bears win.
