St. Mary Parish schools call for early dismissal due to heavy rain
ST. MARY PARISH - Heavy rainfall in the area this morning and early afternoon in St. Mary Parish has caused flash flooding that will lead to early dismissal this afternoon for schools in the parish.
The schools will dismiss for middle and high school students at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Elementary students will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m.
Heavy rain remains in the forecast, and the decision to dismiss early comes with the safety of the students in mind as high water may lead to limited accessibility, according to St. Mary Parish Schools.
Buses will transport students and parents may pick-up their children as needed following the dismissal.
