BUTTE LAROSE -  St. Martin Parish officials used a media tour of Butte LaRose and Happy Town to explain why an ongoing evacuation is needed.

Water could crest on the Atchafalaya River this evening at more than 23 feet, and the river is still pushing water back through Bayou LaRose and the Butte LaRose Canal.

Parish officials the water will still come up until the canal-side depth matches the river level.

The main road leading to camps and homes in the Happy Town area is washed out.  Water is rushing over the location causing concern.
