St. George supporters ask for "no" vote on annexation
BATON ROUGE- St. George organizers ask people to take a stand by asking the Metro Council to vote no to annexation.
The Baton Rouge Metro Council is meeting on Wednesday, May 14, to vote on the annexation of the Mall of Louisiana and the Baton Rouge Medical Center. St. George organizers are asking people to vote no to the annexation because it would change the boundaries of their proposed city. They say the change could invalidate their petition and keep them from the chance to vote on the possibility of the city.
"Let the people Have their say. Let the process play out, and then if you want to be annexed, great, so be it," said supporter, Trey Cook.
St. George supporters say they at least want the chance to vote.
Both sides of the St. George argument are passionate about having better school systems for their kids.
"There's a lot of people passionate for st George and I get it but lets use that together and... lets do something about it let's try to figure out a way to make this change," said Shannon Plauche, a parent against the incorporation.
