St. George school district plans six new schools
BATON ROUGE - Backers of a city of St. George and its new school district propose to build six new schools in the area.
It would put one high school, two middle schools and three elementary schools on the west side of Interstate 10 where there are no schools currently.
Proponents say they see no reason to raise taxes to build additional schools or to run the school district.
City of St. George backers are collecting signatures on a petition in favor of allowing that area to incorporate.
