St. George Organizers: We've got the signatures
BATON ROUGE - St. George organizers say they've got the nearly 18,000 signatures needed for the issue to appear on the ballot in December.
This is good news for supporters who had hoped to vote on the breakaway city in November but fell short. The group is expected to garner additional signatures today at a fundraising and petition drive.
Once the petition is submitted to the Secretary of State's Office and the signatures are verified, voters will be able to decide at the ballot box in December.
