Update: The New Roads/St. Francisville ferry will be out of service until Sunday after the vessel's propeller was damaged by debris in the Mississippi River, the Department of Transportation and Development announced Thursday afternoon.
DOTD is in the process of moving another ferry to the New Roads/St. Francisville ferry landing. Service is scheduled to resume Sunday, Nov. 8. The replacement ferry will hold only 17 cars, and vehicle restrictions for the vessel include no trailers, no more than two axles and no more than six wheels.
Large trucks and trailers should use the Interstate 10 Mississippi River Bridge or the U.S. 190 bridge.
The ferry's operating hours are 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.
