The Dutchtown Griffins are a much stronger team, both mentally and physically according to their head coach Guy Mistretta.  Now in his second year as the head coach of the Griffins, Mistretta says the year together has helped his team get a better understand of his expectations and he has a better feel for what his team is capable of in the 2018 season.

A 7-5 finish to their 2017 season saw the Griffins win a playoff game over Slidell, and tied for third in district 5-5A.

There are four starters back on each side of the ball for Mistretta in 2018 and his offensive backfield has three of them including quarterback Dray Monroe who's come a long way despite just four starts at the tail end of last year.

On the defensive side of the ball, defensive end Hayden Willis and corner Jordan Jackson will lead the way.

Coach Mistretta says the team has depth, however it's unproven depth so he's hoping that if the leadership comes together from the offensive and defensive lines his team will have a successful season in the Fall.
