Sports 2-A-Days: Parkview Baptist
BATON ROUGE - It's not easy following a legend, but Jay Mayet says he's up to the task at Parkview Baptist high school.
State championship-winning coach Kenny Guillot stepped down from his post after last season and now Mayet, the Eagles defensive coordinator for the past 15 years, steps in as head coach.
In this case, the amount of veteran coaching expereince is almost as important as the veteran players, although Mayet does have 7 starters coming back on offense and four on defense from a team that went 9-3, 4-1 in district 7-3A in 2013.
Mayet says the skill positions will be a strength this year, and he'll need to find some continuity on defense before the season arrives.
