BATON ROUGE - A fire truck donated to New York in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks is headed to the northeast again to help with a different disaster.
Fire Marshal Butch Browning said they were lending the "Spirit of Louisiana" truck to aid in cleanup around Long Island after Hurricane Sandy.
The truck was built by Ferrara Fire Apparatus in Holden, and designed to New York Fire standards. After serving for a time in New York, the truck was donated back to the state of Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina.
The truck will receive a final inspection this afternoon before it's deployed.
