Speculation continues as EBR superintendent reconsiders resignation
Four days after suddenly resigning as superintendent of East Baton Rouge Parish Schools, John Dilworth is reconsidering the move.
That decision was made after Dilworth met with community and board leaders, as well as Baton Rouge school children. But speculation continues as to why he resigned in the first place.
School Board Vice President Jay Augustine says the reason is micromanaging by certain board members. Three board members denied that claim when the Baton Rouge Chamber mentioned it in its reaction to Dilworth's resignation Friday.
Board President Jerry Arbour has said the reason is rooted in Dilworth's family and finances, but Augustine says neither is the case and that it's purely politics. However, both say they want Dilworth to stay and they'll do whatever it takes to make that happen.
John Dilworth told News 2 by phone Tuesday afternoon that he had no comment on the news of his reconsideration and that he didn't know when he would speak about it.
