Special meeting scheduled to re-consider chancellor
BATON ROUGE - The Board of Supervisors for the Southern University System scheduled a special meeting Thursday to reconsider extending SUBR Chancellor James Llorens' contract.
The board said after a sit-in at the system president's office that they would reconsider their decision to let Llorens go when his contract ended in June.
Llorens said he had issues with President Ronald Mason's proposed extension, which he claimed would have given the president's office more authority over Southern's Baton Rouge campus while reducing the role of the chancellor. Mason said he wanted to get the system more involved in solving problems on the campus.
The special meeting was scheduled for Monday, Feb. 24 at 1:30 p.m.
