LIVINGSTON – Authorities say a dog that attacked a man’s genitals can go home to its owner, but the president of the local SPCA doesn’t agree.

Terri Dunlap told News 2 today that when the dog first came into their possession after attacking a man in Denham Springs, it was in very bad shape.  She said its fur was matted and teeth that were rotting from neglect.

Dunlap said the dog has improved under their care, but is worried that it will be mistreated again now that its owner and prosecutors reached an agreement to have the dog labeled “dangerous” after the attack.

The dog's owner could not be reached for comment.

Find out what parish authorities have to say about the matter tonight on News 2 at 6.
