Spanish Town parade masked in pink for Valentine's Day
BATON ROUGE - The Spanish Town parade painted downtown Baton Rouge pink Saturday in honor of Valentine's Day.
The theme this year was "St. Valentine's Day Masquerade." One popular attraction was the "50 Shades of Pinks" float paying tribute to the popular movie "50 Shades of Grey." Other floats were decked out in pink hearts and other Valentine's day decorations.
Shelby Holmes was named King of Mardi Gras here in Baton rouge after he was killed in a shooting back in 2013. He was well known around Baton Rouge and was a regular at the Spanish Town ball. Holmes's killer was never found.
The Spanish Town parade started more than thirty years ago.
