Weather conditions cause postponements, higher prices and an abundance. Felix Baumgartner's space jump from 120,000 feet was aborted due to strong winds. Felix may try again today, depending upon a low pressure system over New Mexico; causing strong winds in numerous levels of the atmosphere. Record warmth and wintry weather last spring compromised the apple crop for the entire country. Frozen blossoms in April cut the crop by 80% in Michigan and 90% in California. Apple prices could hit a dollar-a-pound. From scarcity to more-than-enough, the Klamath River in California has made a comeback, especially for Chinook salmon. A long-term battle between fishing interests, farmers and hydro-electric companies and a 2002 fish-kill reduced yields for the Yurok Tribe of Native Americans. This year, 880,000 fish will be harvested.
