BATON ROUGE - Southern University's board of supervisors voted today against extending the contract of Ronald Mason, SU system president.

Southern officials say they came to a decision at saturday's board meeting.

Mason tells WBRZ, "The board leadership wanted to go in a different direct. I wish Southern luck."

Mason's contract is set to expire on June 30, 2015. That will be the last day of his five year contract.

Mason came from Jackson St. University in Mississippi in 2010.
