Southern University considers on-site energy production
Update: Southern University leaders met with Broad International, a Chinese multi-national energy company, to discuss a proposal for an energy saving program. The project would allow the university to produce electricity on-site to heat and cool all buildings on campus.
It could cut the cost of electricity by half. The project is part of an energy saving effort between the university and Broad International.
Chancellor Kofi Lomotey says the project will create more research opportunities at the university.
