Southern sweeps baseball doubleheader over Grambling State
BATON ROUGE - Celebrating the history of the Negro Leagues with throwback jerseys, the Southern University baseball team also celebrated a big day at the plate, sweeping Grambling State in a pair of Saturday games.
The Jaguars began the day with a 10-1 victory over the Tigers, pouring on 7 runs in the 6th inning to break open what was a close game to that point.
The Jags kept their foot on the gas pedal in game 2, scoring a 9-6 victory in game 2 to clinch Southern's first series win of the season.
The Jaguars will look for a sweep over the Tigers on Sunday as the two teams meet for game three at 1pm.
