Southern parishes moving forward with BP settlement
ST. TAMMANY- Southern parishes are moving forward with the BP oil spill settlement.
The St. Tammany council adopted a resolution authorizing the parish president to sign off on the deal worth more than $16 million.
In 2010, tar balls from the oil spill washed into Lake Ponchartrain and led to a massive cleanup effort.
St. Tammany also reported lost revenue due to a noticeable decrease in seafood catches from local fishermen.
