Organizers of the Gulf Coast Classic football game say they owe Southern University $103,000 and Alabama State about $40,000.
The schools gave up traditional home games to play each other in Mobile, Alabama last November. Less than 20,000 people attended the game last year. The city of Mobile plans to cut funding by $230,000. That could put future games in jeopardy.
Some city leaders say they have questions about the use of taxpayer money and are calling the game a bust. Southern fans say the game should be moved back to Baton Rouge.
