BATON ROUGE - The Southern men's and women's basketball teams beat Mississippi Valley State Monday night. The men had a first-half 17-point lead whittled down to 3. Then SWAC Player of the Week Malcolm Miller went off with 28 points from the bench to bury the Delta Devils 88-54. The Jaguars are 6-0 in conference play.

The women broke up a 35-all tie at the half when four players got into double digit scoring. The women's 11-point win boosted their SWAC record to 5-1.
