Southern loses in Overtime to Alcorn St., 44-38
The Southern Jaguar football fought back to force overtime, however they could not keep hold of the ball in the extra frame to get to the end-zone as Alcorn State stole a Homecoming win 44-38 over the Jags.
Southern got the ball first in overtime, however quarterback Dray Joseph fumbled on their first play and recovered the ball, only to throw an interception on the next play effectively handing the game to the Braves.
Alcorn running back Arnold Walker then took the ball on the Braves first possession of overtime and raced in 25 yards for the game winner.
It's not hard to see where Southern lost this game, as despite the late turnovers the Jaguars only rushed for 38 yards while the Braves racked up 283 yards on the ground. Overall Alcorn St. amassed 522 yards compared to Southern's 367.
Alcorn did not turn the ball over in the game, while Southern had an interception and a fumble.
The Jags are next in action at Texas Southern on Saturday, November 2nd.
