BIRMINGHAM - The Southern Jaguars may have missed out on the regular season SWAC title, but they made up for it with the individual honors.

Trelun Banks led Southern in assists and averaged 8.6 points.

Godfrey averaged 12.9 points and 8.8 rebounds.

Texas Southern forward Aaric Murray is the Southwestern Athletic Conference player of the year.

Murray was also named defensive player of the year in voting by SWAC coaches and sports information directors released Monday.

Murray led the SWAC in scoring, averaging 21.7 points and 7.7 rebounds a game. Murray also blocked a league-best 69 shots.
