Southern gets win over rival Jackson State 42-28
JACKSON, MS - The Southern Jaguars jumped on Jackson State early and beat their rival 42-28 on Saturday.
The Jags started quarterback Deonte Shorts and he responded by leading the Jags to a scoring drive on their opening possesion.
Shorts connected with Justin Morgan on a long pass play before finishing the drive with a touchdown run to put the Jags up 7-0.
Willie Quinn ran a punt back for a touchdown to put the Jags up 14-nothing, and Leonard Tillery added a 76 yard touchdown run that had the Jags leading 21-0 less than 8 minutes into the game.
Southern moves to 4-1 on the conference season, while the Tigers fall to 1-4.
