Southern football kickoff moved to Friday night
Houston - The Southern Jaguars will play two football games on Friday nights this season after Texas Southern moved the teams early November kickoff up one day to Friday, November 1 at 8:00 p.m..
The move was made to avoid a possible conflict with the local Major League Soccer team, the Dynamo who could have a potential home playoff date at that time.
TSU also changed their Jackson State game on the road on Thursday, September 19th at 6:30pm. The game was moved so it can be carried live on ESPNU.
"It was a better option than moving it to a Thursday night because it gives the fans in Houston an opportunity to finish out their work week and come to the game, and it will eliminate a two-day turn-around off work for fans traveling from Baton Rouge," said athletics director Dr. Charles McClelland. "Hopefully our decision works best for all parties involved."
The Tigers have five home games this season which will be played at BBVA Compass Stadium.
