Southern board officially names Banks interim AD
BATON ROUGE - The Southern University Board of Supervisors officially approved moving Jaguars basketball coach Roman Banks to interim athletic director Friday morning.
The vote came after existing AD Dr. William Broussard announced Thursday he had been temporarily reassigned out of his position and into the Southern System President's office.
Broussard did not give a reason for the move, and SU spokesperson Ed Pratt said they anticipate he would return to his athletic director's position by August.
The board went into executive session Friday to deal with Broussard's status after voting Banks as interim AD. Broussard's contract has him with the university until summer 2017.
The full board will vote on the reassignment at the end of their meeting.
Sports 2 will have updates on the situation tonight at 6 p.m.
