Southern band to perform at Johnson's confirmation
NEW ORLEANS - The Human Jukebox will perform today during the installation ceremonies of new Louisiana Supreme Court Judge Bernette Johnson.
The university says the band will march down Royal Street to the steps of the Supreme Court building.
They will perform a trumpet fanfare, the National Anthem and other selections before and after the ceremony.
Johnson was sworn in earlier this month. She replaces former justice Kitty Kimball, who retired after 20 years on the bench.
Johnson is the first African-American chief justice to serve on the Louisiana Supreme Court.
