Sources indicate that Target Corp will increase its minimum wage to $10 an hour for all workers.

The move to $10 an hour comes just more than a year after Target followed Wal-Mart by moving all workers to a $9 an hour. The raise comes as an across-the-board boost to the minimum of wage has become an increasingly popular topic of discussion nationally.

Target executives have been outspoken in the past about their intention to keep wages competitive in order to retain employees, but pay adjustments have largely been determined by the specifics of the local labor market around stores across the country.

Locally, Gov. John Bel Edwards has said he wants to bring all minimum wage workers to $8.50 an hour over the next few years.
