Sources: Cop to be charged in alleged drunk driving crash
NEW ROADS- Sources in Pointe Coupee Parish have told the WBRZ Investigative Unit a cop who allegedly drove drunk and caused a crash in New Roads will face charges.
Our sources also tell us, the Deputies who investigated the crash that night, will also likely face disciplinary action.
Chief Investigator Chris Nakamoto reported on New Roads Police Captain Mark Munson last Monday. Munson crashed a truck he was driving, and wasn't given a breath test even though a nearly empty bottle of gin was found in his truck.
Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff Bud Torres launched an internal investigation into the matter last week. Although he wouldn't elaborate on details surrounding the investigation, he did say the investigation has concluded, and more details will be released at a press conference at 2pm Tuesday.
New Roads Police Chief Kevin McDonald told WBRZ News 2 Munson could also face disciplinary action.
