Source: Baby so underfed it looked like a skeleton
VENTRESS - A woman shouted profanities at a News 2 crew trying to ask questions about a baby found dead inside a Pointe Coupee Parish residence. Investigators said it appeared the baby was malnourished.
"Get in that d*** car, and get off my f****** property," she yelled. "Now, right now!"
Three-month-old Joseph Lutz was found dead inside the house recently at 12858 Patin Dyke Road. Three other children inside the house were taken by the state and placed in other homes. Right now no one has been charged in the death, but the investigation is still going on.
According to investigators, Joseph Lutz was the son of Jason Lutz and Ashley Cogar. Investigators said a roommate at the house called 911 to report the dead baby. A source close to the investigation told News 2 that the baby was so malnourished it looked like "a skeleton with skin draped over it."
"Depending on what comes out of the autopsy or coroner's report, charges could be coming," Captain Steve Juge with the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff's Office said.
The night the baby was found dead the district attorney's office was also called in to investigate.
"It's very sad, very sad for the community," Juge said.
The other three children removed from the home were 2-years-old, 4-years-old and 5-years-old.
It's unclear when the autopsy will be finished.
