The indictments come after a three year joing investigation by the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office and U.S. Department of Justice.

The criminal investigation found that Anny and Maughn misappropriated $77,500 in 2013 that belonged to the Town of Sorrento. The $77,500 check was signed by Anny when he was mayor pro tem while then-Mayor Wilson Longanecker, was on medical leave.

The check was made out to Design and Build Consultants, a company that Maughn represented at the time.

The money was supposed to be used for sewer repairs that never occurred in Sorrento.

Anny and Maughan were booked on the above charges. Anny was released on a $30,000 bond, while Maughan was released on a $20,000 bond.
