The potential exists for a few strong thunderstorms today.
Areas of rain and thunderstorms are expected for the final day of the week. Some of the storms will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and heavy downpours. Like Tuesday, an early round and a late round may cause erratic temperatures, but enough of a midday break is expected to allow thermometers to jump to the upper 80s for a high. Shower and storm activity will wane overnight with a few holes in the cloud deck and lows near 70°.
A few showers and thunderstorms will again be possible on Saturday. The severe threat will have diminished though and activity is not expected to be as widespread. Furthermore, the dying cold front responsible for the scattered storms is weak enough that they day will likely be spent partly sunny and warm with a high in the upper 80s. Father's Day will be warm and humid with a high near 90° and only an isolated storm possible.
