NATCHITOCHES- A 30-year-old Louisiana Army National Guard soldier was killed in an accident on I-49 Tuesday afternoon.

Sgt. Kevin Weiner was in the last Humvee of a convoy when the vehicle was rear-ended by a semi.

Sources tell WBRZ the convoy was returning to a base in the Shreveport-Bossier City area after assisting with the Hurricane Isaac relief effort in Tangipahoa Parish.

State Police are investigating, but could only comment on the accident and not about the convoy's operation.

Weiner was a member of the 165th CFSB, a service-support battalion.  He was from Shreveport.

State Police say charges are pending against the truck driver, and crash experts will pick-up the investigation Wednesday morning.
