BATON ROUGE - Four tours of duty earned Sergeant Alvin Roane a hero's welcome home Thursday.
As he arrived in Baton Rouge, family and friends met him with cheers and signs.
Roane has served over four years fighting in both Afghanistan and Iraq, and he will have to go back, but he told News 2, the break gives him time to reboot.
"Gives you a break, gives you a relief, helps you reset so you can make it to the end and get on back home for good." Roane said.
Roane's sister, Lakia says she can't wait for that day because the entire family depends on her older brother.
"My father is deceased and has been deceased for 12 years so he's like the father figure. He's always there when you need him, so that's what we try to be here for him." Lakia told News 2.
This was Roane's first tour in Afghanistan, and he was able to tell us that he expects to be heading back pretty soon.
