Smoke testing to be done today to detect cracks in sewer system
THIBODAUX- Smoke testing in city sewer lines will take place today in the area of Tiger Drive and Hickory Street in Thibodaux.
The testing will allow the Public Works Department to identify any cracks or leaks in the sewer system.
Officials said during the testing, residents may experience a smoke order or see visible smoke coming through their yards, drains, and pipes, both inside and outside of the home. Any smell or visible smoke should dissipate within minutes and residents should not be overly alarmed.
Residents are urged to call the Public Works Department at 985-446-7223 with any questions related to this work.
