Smith faces multiple life terms in killings
BATON ROUGE - After deliberating for nearly two hours, a jury found Dominique Smith guilty of two counts of first-degree murder, and guilty of two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Smith killed Jessica Johnson Palmer and Juan Palmer Jr., and slit the throats of Robbyn Palmer and his daughter, Paige Johnson. Paige was 4-years-old and Robbyn was 6-months-old when they were left for dead in 2008.
A first-degree murder conviction means an automatic sentence of life in prison without parole. Smith will be formally sentenced in May, and faces time for the two murder convictions plus the two attempted murder convictions.
