Smiles, laughter replace outrage in Port Allen
PORT ALLEN- Mayor Deedy Slaughter was all smiles at a town council committee meeting Wednesday night.
It was her first appearance heading a city meeting since a judge ruled, in many ways, in her favor a day earlier. Although she was smiling, she did not want to talk about the hearing and neither did most other people.
"You have to abide by the judge's ruling," councilman Hugh Riviere said. "By the advice of legal, that's all I can say."
Every seat was filled, but the mood was obviously upbeat compared to prior town council meetings where police have had to muscle-up and warn people to calm down.
