"Smash and Grab" burglar sought

Baton Rouge - Baton Rouge police are investigating a rash of "Smash and Grab" type burglaries that have occurred at several Baton Rouge businesses over the last two weeks.

The first call came in on Tuesday around 1:50 am from a business alarm at 12330 Florida Blvd.
When officers arrived they found the front glass door busted out.

Over the next two hours officers responded to four more business alarms, two at 12300 Florida Blvd., one at 11091 Muriel Ave. and one at 2323 N. Flannery Rd.

All these business were victimized in the same manner.

Then ,around noon on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, officers responded to a business alarm at 12177 Coursey Blvd.

When they arrived officers found the front door glass was busted out and a cash register had been taken.

Surveillance video taken from the Coursey Blvd. business shows a white male that appears to be 5' 8" to 6' tall and weighing 180-200 lbs. kick in the front door glass and enter the business.

The suspect grabbed the cash register and ran out of the business then got into a dark colored four-door sedan with chrome rims and drove away.

Police suspect the same culprit in all these crimes.
