Small plane goes down in Lake Pontchartrain
NEW ORLEANS - Authorities say a small plane went down in Lake Pontchartrain near Lakefront Airport in New Orleans.
Louis Capo, director of non-flood assets for the Orleans Levee District, which owns the airport, said the single-engine plane went down Friday afternoon, short of the airport's runway.
The pilot was the only person reported on board. Capo said he escaped without serious injury.
The pilot's identity was not immediately available and the cause of the accident was under investigation.
