BATON ROUGE - Authories said Hazmat teams may use a controlled burn tonight to clear spilled butane from a closed portion of I-10, which would require a small number of people near the site to be evacuated.
At a press conference in the Mayor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, authorities said if the burn takes place they planned to evacuate a small number of people living "hundreds of yards" away from the site of the burn.
Other people near the area may also be asked to shelter in place, including a nearby hospital.
Police will come door-to-door by people's homes to let them know about the evacuation, which authorities said would happen after 10 p.m. tonight.
News 2 will have more details tonight at 6 and 10.
