HAMMOND - The president of Southeastern Louisiana University made a home delivery of a diploma so an ailing father could see a son graduate.
This was the first time SLU President John Crain had been asked to make such an accommodation for a student's family.
This past Thursday, Crain traveled to the home of the McMorris family just south of Livingston.
Ronald McMorris has non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and leukemia. Relatives say the 65-year-old was too weak to travel to Hammond to watch his son's commencement.
During a brief ceremony in the McMorris home, Crain presented a diploma to 35-year-old Brad McMorris, who earned a degree in multimedia journalism.
Brad McMorris says his father is an alumnus of SLU and had always wanted to see him graduate.
