SLU fires head basketball coach Jim Yarbrough
HAMMOND - Southeastern Louisiana University dismissed head basketball coach Jim Yarbrough Monday, saying they would immediately begin a national search for his replacement.
Director of Athletics Jay Artigues said assistant coach Michael Cyprien would take over Yarbrough's duties in the interim.
"After taking a hard look at how the program has developed, I felt it was time to move in a new direction," Artigues said. "We are very appreciative of the contributions Jim has made to our university and wish him well in the future."
Yarbrough ends his tenure at SLU with a 133-135 record. The Lions finished the 2013-14 season with a 12-18 overall record and a 7-11 Southland Conference record. They were knocked out of the Southland Conference Tournament in the first round by Nicholls State.
