SLU choirs go to the opera

HAMMOND - The Southeastern Louisiana University Concert Choir and Women's Chorale will present "A Night at the Opera" on Oct. 17 as part of Fanfare, the university's annual festival of the arts, humanities and social sciences.

The free performance is planned for 7:30 p.m., led by Southeastern director of choral activities Alissa Mercurio Rowe. It will be held at First United Methodist Church, 2200 Rue Denise in Hammond.

Featured will be student conductors Heidi Matherne of Bourg and Mary Peacock of Folsom.
