WBRZ - Baton Rouge

Police in Sildell are investigating a deadly apartment fire this afternoon.

It happened at 5:30 a.m. Thursday at 2021 Bayou Lane.

The apartment was fully engulfed in flames, when firefighters arrived. Once the fire was out, a body was discovered in the downstairs hallway.

The body was burned beyond recognition.

Investigators from the St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office will try and determine the cause of death along with identifying the victim.
