A 20-year-old man died after he was hit by a car in Terrebonne Parish.

State police say Derrick Collins was headed east in the right lane on Bayou Gardens Blvd. in Houma.

Collins saw Jacob Bollingham walking in the same lane, and tried to change lanes, but struck Bollingham.

Bollingham was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Alcohol and Drug use is unknown on Bollingham pending blood results from the Terrebonne Parish Coroner's Office.

Collins was wearing his seatbelt.

A breath test performed on Collins indicated no alcohol involvement.

No charges filed and Troopers are continuing their investigation.
