Slaughter to leave office today
PORT ALLEN - Mayor Deedy Slaughter has until 4:30pm Monday to vacate her office at City Hall.
Voters supported Slaughter's recall earlier this month in a record-setting special election.
She has been the focus of several reports by the News 2 investigative unit, which uncovered possible wrongdoing during her time as mayor.
Council members will have 20 days to appoint an interim mayor once Slaughter leaves office.
